Training Lab Reservations

The MCFRS Tech Training Labs are available for reservations, free of charge to MCG departments and MCFRS LFRDs. To check lab availability and/or reserve a room, please contact Jeff Feiertag, MCFRS IT Training Coordinator, via e-mail.

Facilities

The MCFRS Tech Training labs are located at 100 Edison Park Drive in the Public Safety Headquarters (PSHQ) building. Visitors will each need to go through a metal detector and show county IDs and/or drivers' licenses.

The labs offer PCs on the county network, connected via LAN to a copier/printer in the suite. The main lab has two whiteboards and an instructor PC with a projector attached. It offers 16 student PCs (Windows XP machines) all loaded with Office XP and Visio 2003.

Within the break room, we offer water (free, but please provide your own cups).

Restrictions

MCG departments or LFRDs wishing to use the space must agree to the following:

  • Lab space must be returned to its pre-class condition after each session. Requestors are responsible for the cleanliness and security of the space. This includes shutting down all PCs and turning off all lights, erasing any class-related marks on the whiteboard(s) and turning off the projector. Doors must be locked and closed at the end of class and requestors are responsible for student property during reservation times.
  • Furniture may not be moved and must remain in its initial setup.
  • Drinks are permitted, providing that lids are used, and all plastic bottles should be placed in the wide blue recycling bin located in the suite.
  • Cell phone conversations may not take place in the common area of the suite during daytime business hours.
  • Requestors must provide their own office supplies.
  • Reservations must be made a minimum of one month in advance and are scheduled at the discretion of the MCFRS IT Training Coordinator.
  • Requests for software installation must be made at the time of the initial reservation request. Software must meet county licensing and technology agreement standards. Software must be installed a minimum of one week prior to class, based upon a time mutually agreeable between the requestor and the MCFRS IT Training Coordinator, and uninstalled by the requestor at the end of training. Any data files saved on lab PCs must also be deleted at the end of class.
  • Reservation of labs implies agreement of all of the above restrictions. Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in reservation cancellation and/or denial of future reservation requests (at the discretion of the MCFRS IT Training Coordinator).
